Change
management is a proven technique of looking at
a company and driving through transformations
that make the business more effective, and consequently
more profitable.
Once you’ve committed
to change, there are three essential elements
that need to be taken into account:
• Process change –
the processes you use to deliver your product
or service
• Organisational change
– the people and structures within your
business
• Cultural change –
the behaviour and culture of the people within
a business.
We can also describe
change management by likening it to Newton’s
laws as follows:
The three laws of change management*:
First law: Overcoming the natural
inertia in organizations requires the constant
application of the forces for change - in other
words, changes won’t happen unless you continuously
push them through
Second Law: The greater the
inertia, or resistance to change, the greater
the required forces for change – the greater
the resistance, the harder you have to push change
through.
Third Law: The way that change
agents treat resisters is the way that resisters
will treat change agents – have respect
for the views of those who are concerned about
change and they will respect you back.
