According to an RAC Direct Insurance
survey, men waste up to 5.9 million hours each
year because they don't ask for directions. The
same principle applies to businesses, with people
often feeling that they’ve failed if they
need to ask for help.
Getting the most out of yourself
and your staff, and ensuring that everyone has
the necessary confidence, skills and expertise
to improve business performance can be daunting.
Consequently we invest a significant proportion of our time working with individuals – whether these are executives, managers, or employees - to ensure they are:
- Capable of carrying out actions and performing
at the level needed by the business. (Do
they understand the big picture?)
- Able to plan properly and can argue the case
for change or taking their part of the business
in a particular direction.
(Do they just
try to cope with what is put in front of them?
Are they proactive and not just reactive?)
- Equipped with the necessary skills and/or
training to perform their role effectively and
efficiently. (Can they understand the big
picture)?
- Able to understand their own strengths, weaknesses
and limitations, and those of others. (Are
they capable of managing both themselves and
others to achieve the best results?)
In the case of management mentoring,
we also focus on delegation and empowerment as
an essential part of the skill set. We ensure
they understand that, as managers, they must work
on the system, as well as in the system. |
